A Letter to Our Alumni

The difference between a good school and a great school is measured in the achievement of its students and staff, supported by the service and generosity of its alumni. By these measures, Aviators Soar High! The Vandalia-Butler Alumni Association (VBAA) mission is to connect past, present, and future Aviators. The VBAA assists in the mission and goals of Butler High School and surrounding community. It exists to unite, communicate, and share our Aviator spirit, and YOU are a member. Please register at www.vbalum.com to remain updated on all upcoming VBAA activities and events.

Since 2020, VBAA and community groups and businesses have joined together to create and fund the following:

➢ The lighted senior display on the high school lawn honoring graduates. Because of the

tremendous district and community responses, this is now an annual VBAA event.

➢ The Vandalia-Butler Alumni Hall of Achievement (HOA). The HOA recognizes fellow alumni and cherished district retirees for significant accomplishments in their fields and/or service to their communities. The first four recipients were inducted in September 2021, and their photos and stories grace the walls of the high school, inspiring current students and fellow graduates.

➢ In late 2021, the VBAA accepted responsibility for the continued maintenance of the Alumni Courtyard at the high school. The courtyard was designed by 2012 Alumnus, Thomas Mahoney and since its completion in 2014, maintained by his family. The purchase of a brick(s) helps offset the cost of ongoing maintenance and updated landscaping.

➢ This year at Homecoming, the VBAA will induct its second Hall of Achievement class and host an “all-class” reunion/tailgate inside the football stadium. We will also continue our partnership with the Vandalia-Butler Foundation and Visions Endowment fund to provide grants to VBSD educators.

The VBAA wishes to use the energy, passion, and engagement of its members to continue to give back to the Vandalia-Butler School District, and ensure future generations receive a high-quality education. All gifts have an impact, no matter the size. Please take a moment to consider supporting these worthwhile projects and events with a tax-deductible donation. Contributions via check are payable to The Dayton Foundation. Please note VBAA Fund 9885 on your check and send to the PO Box below:
